Today I want to share 5 quick productivity tips to help online entrepreneurs. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been running a business for 10 years or you’re just getting started… These 5 areas are important to focus on, and will keep you productive.
#1. Know Your Priorities
Ever heard of the 80/20 rule? If you haven’t, let me give you a run down.
The 80/20 rule, also known as the Pareto Principle says that 80% of your efforts come from 20% of your activity.
So, you need to figure out what is moving your business forward, and what is holding you back.
Most of the time, creating content can make up the bulk of your 20% since content attracts audiences, builds rapport, sells products, and can establish credibility.
#2. Manage Your Energy
You can’t manage time (it just keeps ticking along no matter what you do), but you can manage your energy to devote to the 80/20 rule.
You can improve in areas like:
- 30-50 minute working sessions, followed by 10 minute breaks or relaxation time.
- Getting enough sleep.
- Doing exercise – even walking more can help.
Spend a few minutes thinking about how you can start moving in a better direction, and gaining more energy.
#3. Improve Your Habits
It isn’t about getting loads of things done in a day – it’s about developing strong habits that can support your goals.
The best way to improve your habits to work on them one at a time and start small.
Say you want to develop a writing habit (a good choice for a blogger), start by making a ritual of writing for just 10 minute sessions.
Don’t let anything distract you for 10 minutes. Once you get the hang of it, increase the time. Keep going until you’re happy.
4#. Control Your Distractions
Being online means you’re subject to the most destructive (going overboard there a little, lol) environment imaginable.
Have some kind of plan for how you’ll handle distractions when your working. Programs like OmmWriter can help you focus when your writing. Or Freedom that turns off your internet at specific periods of time.
#5. Marshal Your Support
One of the smartest things you can do as an online business owner is to find other online business owners who share similar goals, interests, and values.
Look for like-minded people, accountability groups, join ventures, or even people with more skills. It’s just good to have a place where everyone understands your tough days, and your victories.
